I would really like if some lawyers around can explain me the following. I am sure this is the most obvious contradictio in adjecto. Both sections are taken form Family law act.

1)If there are children aged under 18, a court can only grant a divorce if it is satisfied that proper arrangements have been made for them.

2) The granting of a divorce does not decide issues about property and maintenance or parenting arrangements for your children.

G'day bleka,
Of course it's contradictory!!!!! The very name of the 'Family Court' is contradictory. All it ever does is shatter families and drive a wedge between those who are separating.
Of course the legals have nothing to do with that either do they !!!!!
Here's another Family Law contradiction; The Family Law Rules are a guide only.
So if a FLR is breached/bent/not complied with, it's ok. After all, they are just a guide, aren't all rules just a guide !!!!

I wonder if that will help me next time I get a speeding ticket !!!!
